See if this link works:
Charlotte Observer | Special Sections | Lake Norman Living Here | Page 50
The Charlotte Observer puts out a magazine "Living Here" at Lake Norman.
It is available online
Page 50 has a review of NASCAR attractions with all of the race shops, addresses, tour policy and cost.

Awww, no, it doesn't work. It just says:
"Published on 5/8/2009
This Charlotte Lake Norman Living Here Special Sections Page may contain time-sensitive information and offers.
Please check with advertiser to confirm availability."
Thanks though!

I enjoyed visiting the JGR shop. Although that might also be because it's my favorite team. When you go in, they have a large number of display cases with trophies, etc, and show cars. They also have a viewing area with a window where you're able to look down into the shop. Of course, they have a gift shop as well.
Also when we were there Joe and JD were walking through the lobby with a group of people. Joe Gibbs stopped and signed, took pictures, and talked to every one there. He stayed until everyone who wanted to, got a chance to talk to him. It was a nice surprise and I've heard he does that once in a while.

MArch 2012 Visit
After many years of wanting to view the race shops in Charlotte we finally made it today. We hit Joe Gibbs racing first. Don't waste your time. They had nothing to hand out for information and no videos educating you about their shop, their philosophy or anything else. The only shop you saw was through some windows in the back of the reception area and all they had on the video was the winnings of their drivers. BORING. NEXT we went to Mikey's house ! Michael Waltrip Racing. Let me just say WAY TO GO! The time they spent on thoughtful planning and the open air concept of the work area was great. Plenty of videos and signage and photos to educate you about everything they do there. For $8 we got to see it all including a backstage outdoor tour where we saw his motorhome and where they practice their pit stops. We even got to go into the fabricating shop. Totally cool and they answered all the techy questions my husband asked. Not only that, this was an old movie theater that they revitalized, way to go! Mikey has earned our respect and business from this experience. Don't miss too the sampler platter over at Mac's BBQ Speed Shop kitty corner, awesome carnitas tacos, drinks and ribs!
