We have family coming down from New England over the long Thanksgiving holiday weekend. What are some places we should take our family to see or do? We're relatively new to the area ourselves. We were thinking of walking around uptown, maybe heading to the outlets in Concord, and going to Freedom Park for a walk. Other than that, what would be worth seeing (no kids, just 5 adults)?
I'd love to take a trip to Asheville and/or the beaches, but my family won't be here for too long. It looks like we'll just have part of Wednesday (the rest of that day will be spent cooking for Thanksgiving) and Friday.

Thanks in advance for any recommendations.

It doesn't take long, but I always take out-of-towners on a drive along Queens Rd/Queens Rd W to see the trees and houses. It's not as impressive once the leaves fall, but it's neat nonetheless.

this is a very good suggestion but I would try to go as soon as it gets dark because they do draw a crowd

I don't know if you're music enthusiasts or not, but the Evening Muse in NoDa has 4 bands playing on Wednesday the 25th, beginning at 8pm, tickets are just $5, great little venue.

Alisa Turner's one of the acts, you can listen to her music here.

You're right about $5, but there are 6 bands playing tonight.

Latta Plantation is holding it's annual Plantation Christmas event which shows what Christmas was like here in the 19th century. It's on Friday & Saturday.

Beautiful vineyard tours not too far away. Childress Vineyards is one of the favorites!
