Wachovia is really First Union Bank. It wasn't that long ago they changed the name and it didn't bother anyone around here. (I do agree the people at the original Winston-Salem based Wachovia including customers think it was a bad deal.)
It could be worse, I guess, they could be changing the name to Norwest, which is really the bank that took them over.
It hasn't even been a year so that's not really very long. Also, this is the corp headquarters. The are is local investment plus all the interal employee investment/morale shift that happens when a company is absorbed by another.
I too am glad that it will say Wells. It could have been Citi and I think that would have been a lot worse.
