Fuddruckers opened here twice, once in the late 80s/early 90s and then went out of business, then they tried again and ended up failing I guess a couple of years ago. The one in Huntersville has a for rent sign on the building. The only Johnny Rockets in the area was in Huntersville which opened in the late 90s, shutdown a few years later. There was the Buffets Cheeseburger in Paridise place that went down too. What did they have in common? They were manufactured theme environments where they sold mediocre hamburgers at very high prices. This is what killed them.

I do agree about Krispy Kreme. Before they went on their national expansion then downfall, they were a fixture all over Charlotte. Their very distinctive stand alone stores were open 24 hours/day where they cooked and served hot doughnuts. It seems strange they have abandoned Charlotte.

Fuddruckers is alive and well on Matthews Township Parkway, but IMHO there are much better burgers in town: The Counter or Big Daddy's...

You can buy Krispy Kreme donuts at Harris Teeter. They are delivered fresh every morning.

Y, but they are not the 'Hot & Now' 2 am experience...

I wonder what's going to be left once the dust settles. If all of the at least decent restaurants in the area keep closing, it's hard to imagine what will survive. As some of you may or may not know, I'm living with my parents now in an apartment off of Mallard Creek. They are having the hardest time finding anyplace they like to eat in the area, other than Showmar's and the Harrisburg Family House. And I'm at a loss to suggest anyplace else since evrywhere they've tried recently has failed to meet their expectations.

Johnny Rockets was coming to Stonecrest but they backed out and now there's a Nothing But Noodles in its place.

Restaurant biz is tough. Keep an eye out for Krispy Kreme though, they're working on some new concepts of getting their product out.

There used to be Rock-ola Cafes and Flakey Jakes in CLT as well - all doomed.

Regardless if we have disagreed on anything in the past, trust me on this - The Counter Southpark.
Always amazing, but at a price.

Fuddruckers and similar chains cannot touch it.

Good with cheap prices - CookOut. This is why they are always packed and opening new places.
