I thought this was interesting about the sewer plant...as we are moving to Union
Developers likely to be left waiting for sewer permits, county says

The state has denied Union County's request to expand its biggest and most strained sewer plant, a decision that surprised county officials and could slow development in the state's fastest-growing county.

Default sewers?

I just don't get why they didn't approve it. I would expect people to be rallying and holding community meetings. Is any of that going on down there?

Default 12 Mile Creek WWTP

Personally I am glad that the additional expansion was rejected. In my opinion it's like putting all your eggs into one basket. The current expansion to 6MG should be sufficient for a while. In the mean time propose a new plant or expand the other 5 plants in the union county borders. Having had an interview with the 12 Mile WWTP manager, they are on track and accorrding to him ahead of schedule with the current upgrades.

Thanks for the update, NCMOM.
Thank God we all bought exisiting homes!
I just don't understand how any new construction got approval without an existing sewer plant in place. Isn't that working backwards? I'm surprised the DEP hasn't stepped in.

What kind of affect does this have on communities that are currently building in Union County? Are they okay or will they have to stop building?

It depends on which lots have the state approval already. I know that several phases (not yet begun, but that were scheduled to begin shortly in that area) of some new communities are affected.
