As a plumber that moved here form the north I was flabbergasted to go on my first service call for a frozen pipe.
The biggest problem I have seen so far is with homes built over the last 10 yrs or so.
If you peal back the siding on some of these you will find not plywood but a thin insulation type board that you can literly poke a finger through. There may or may not be fiberglass insulation between the 2x4 studs and I have seen cpvc {plastic} pipes run behind the fiber board but in front of what little insulation there is between the studs. I think that the first real strong wind that comes along is going to knock some of these cheep excuses for houses flat.

hmmm. Good information. Maybe some insulation projects need to be started coming this spring...

Would the blown-type insulation work for already constructed homes? (blowing the insulation between the walls?)
