Every realtor that I talk to thinks that Steele Creek area is the best up and coming areas right now (southern part)

Fort Mill seems to be where you want to be if you have little ones and want to have the best schools. Although Elementary and Middle schools seems to be good in Steele Creek, People seem a little wishy washy with Olympic High.

Depending where you buy, i think you'd appreciate faster in Steele Creek area, then in Fort Mill.

I guess it's all in what you're looking for. I bought a townhouse there in the DR Horton neighborhood, and I bought in the mid 130's and new ones are selling in the upper 140's.

Just my opinion

Thanks for you reply; I'm just a little worried about the Steele Creek schools and Meck tax's.

We have a daughter that will be going to middle schools next year. Do you think the schools in Steele Creek are getting better?

Everything I've seen about Steele Creek elementary schools and middle schools are positive, overall. I'm not sold on Olympic High School, either, but we'll cross that bridge when we have to.

I live in Tega Cay, SC (over 3 years now) and my children attend Fort Mill schools (Middle). Between the two...my money is on Fort Mill (just wish I had more of it to invest)

Fort Mill and it's not even close. Nice small town, low taxes, great schools. Honestly, I can't think of any advantage Steele Creek would have over Fort Mill.

Based strictly on schools, ft mill... no question. Steel creek may get there eventually when it comes to their schools but they are very hit or miss right now. IMO CMS has a long way to go and they have a lot riding on the vote this fall.

I live in steel creek and if I could go back i would have picked ft. mill for both of your concerns... schools and taxes. The advantage of steel creek is proximity to uptown.

Do those realtors have both a SC and NC license or only a NC license? I may be biased towards Fort Mill as I moved from Steele Creek to Fort mill after 8 years in Steele Creek. As far as appreciation, my house (southern part) appreciated a total of 6.8% in 8 years at Steel Creek - whoo hooo!

I am licensed in both states...I think you really need to visit both areas at different times of day and then make your decision. I personally like both areas, and I really do wish I had a crystal ball to see what each will look like in 5-10 years...
