OK, we are on the big holiday countdown and I just looked at the MSN 10 day forecast and it is calling for a 70% chance of snow on Christmas Day. Could we be in for a white Christmas? I thought this would be a fun poll.

Now I know the forecast changes daily, but coming from So Cal no such thing, so I am actually kind of excited!

I messed the poll up. Well it was my first try, oh well. Guess we can chat about the forecast for snow.

I checked weather.com yesterday and they were calling for snow on Saturday of this week. I'll have to go look up about Christmas. That would be so special for all of the kids in Charlotte!

edited to say I just checked weather.com, accuweather, and msn. weather.com says 41 and rain, accuweather says partly cloudy, and msn says snow and 51. Not sure how it will snow if it's 51, but here's to hoping, I guess!

They're not too accurate predicting tomorrow's weather, so there's no chance they can predict the weather more than a week out. Weather forecasting is notoriously unreliable in these parts.

True. This Sat. will be the third Sat. they have predicted snow, sleet, or a wintry mix. It didn't happen the past two Sats and probably won't this Sat. However, when they DON'T forecast snow is when it'll actually happen. lol.

Weather Underground is great for hourly reports and it states snow 1pm to 7pm then changing to rain

I can't say that I ever remember a white Christmas here in more than 30 years of living here. In fact there have been just a handful of times that I even remember snow flurries occurring before the first of the year though we did have that early nasty ice storm in December a few year back.

There was a freak white Christmas in Myrtle Beach 20 years ago in 1989 where they got 14 inches. Completely shut the place down. It was the first one in local memory. I mention it here because this snow did not make it to Charlotte but was as close as it has gotten in a very long time.

It has been a very wet year however. Maybe it will happen this time.

I'd rather have snow than ice.
