Default Davidson

After a weekend in the Charlotte metro area looking at homes and neighborhoods, Davidson has emerged as a strong possibility along with the more typical choices of Cornelius & Huntersville.

My situation is different than most on here in that I'm not moving with a family. I'm a single guy in my early 30's and don't want to be too far removed from college-educated people in their late 20's and early 30's. (Then again, I'm not trying to go "Old School" here and pretend like I'm still in college doing beer funnels, either! )

For those of you that have lived in the area for a while, what is your impression of Davidson & how do you think it compares to the nearby towns?

I haven't moved there yet but I bought there in Davidson and I was quite taken by the area myself. You have good taste. I can't wait to move!!!

It has a really cute town and I love the homes in Town. If I had the bucks I'd buy one of those. Reminds me of a little picture book town.

Isn't Davidson the one with bad water that caused people to get cancer? I think it's in Davidson County, I'm not sure. I might be confused either with Davidson the town or Davidson the county.

I was told the town with the bad water causing cancer is Salisbury (I had thought it was Statesville, myself).

You probably want to hear from the locals, but we also visited Davidson while looking at homes in the Charlotte area, and were so impressed. Had coffee and walked around the Davidson College campus - it was incredibly beautiful and the atmosphere was great. Also, it's a pretty quick drive to Charlotte. Good luck to you - looks like a great choice!!

No I heard that was Salisbury too. Maybe you are referring to Davidson county? Don't scare me now

Someone want to explain? Was this the one I heard of 5 years ago and they laid all new water pipe AT THE HOME OWNERS EXPENSE? You had an option to continue to drink the bad water or pay (tap fee) and you got new pipe. Some people couldn't afford it and now use their glow in the dark body to supply lights in the house

Default Town of Davidson---no cancer water here!!!

I just had to reply to this as Cakeprincess, once again, is giving incorrect information. I live in Davidson, NC and replied to another one of her posts months ago about this same topic. There is NOTHING in the water here in DAVIDSON, NC that is making anyone sick. I really wish people would have the right information before replying to these posts, especially when there are people looking at this site to give them direction into where to move. I have lived in Davidson, NC for over 4 years now and absolutely love it. It's a charming town with little shops and eateries and concerts on the green...we do not have a water facility that is giving the town cancer! I don't know anything about Davidson County so I will not comment but as far as the TOWN OF DAVIDSON, NC (the town next to Huntersville), our water is absolutely fine.

Some of the neighborhoods are so beautiful they look fake like a movie set. It is truly beautiful country. Very picturesque.

The college is even getting national attention, Time Magazine in August and Newsweek.
