Yikes! This kind of stuff really scares me. article (http://www.charlotteobserver.com/topstories/story/1152005.html - broken link)

He's charged with three counts of sexual battery, second-degree sex offense, extortion, kidnapping, indecent exposure and two counts of felonious restraint.

Monroe said Jackson was "terminated, effective immediately."

"To have one of our own involved in such a despicable act is not only a violation of the public trust, but a complete dishonor to this officer and every officer that wears this badge," Monroe said Wednesday night. "We work very hard to gain and maintain the public's trust, and this knocks us backward."

The first was on Dec.18. Monroe said Jackson – wearing his uniform and driving his marked patrol car – pulled over a 17-year-old girl, forced her into his car, drove to another location and committed sex acts.

^^^^^Yes it's scary and yes it happened in Charlotte. But, look at the bright side and you will note that CLT has only "two black eyes this year" on the Charlotte police force. These kinds of things happen within all part of gov. agencies all across the U.S. Maybe we're "lucky" (if you can call this luck) to have, not zero, but close to it in a city the size of Charlotte.

If he committed sex acts with a 17 year old shouldn't there be additional charges for sex with a minor or something?

Doesn't surprise me. Very few things surprise me. But it does disgust and sicken me and I feel awful for the women who were forced into sexual acts with someone b/c of a badge. I hope they all sue him. In fact, if it can be proven that there has been even a HINT of misconduct on this guy's part in the past, I hope they sue the city.

I believe the age of consent is 16 in NC. It is actually legal to get married at 14 in this state. So no charges related to age.

Ok, that means she would have to give consent right? If she was "forced into his car" then it doesn't sound on the up and up.

No, it means legally she is of age to have sex. However, being forced into his car is obviously not consensual...among the other offenses/charges.
