More all less typical of posts here on our Charlotte forum board? I understand completely that this is a forum to help ppl. moving to CLT, employment questions and all the rest. But, what troubles me is how one decides to move and then says "moving there in 3 months, how's the job situation for a bus driver?" How do you make the jump from A to B with this kind of question?

I admit that I am somewhat of a controlling person in what I do, need to know what I am going to have for breakfast in the morning, but give me a break----how can you "be moving to Charlotte in 3 months" if you a) don't have a job, b) don't know the market, or c)don't know how to get one??

Now, the naysayers of this thread will say something like, "what do you know", "need a fresh beginning", " can't make it in NY" "trying to shut me out of a job yeh", and well, you know the rest.

My point: I REALLY don't understand the logic behind some of these post that I have mentioned. Why do ppl. feel the the grass is greener over here? Better than Cali., NY, etc. All the regulars have seen these posts. Day after day. What makes these people believe that the C.O.L. is better, houses are cheaper, ops. abound, and all the rest?

What am I missing??

Because for years people have been coming here in droves and finding work/employment wasn't that difficult. They figured that if they came from a "big city" that Charlotte would welcome them w/open arms.

However for the past 2 years it hasn't been the case. People either don't follow the news and realize that things are very bad here, or they just don't care.....

I'm NOT excusing it, but I'm just telling you from history, that's all....

I'm surprised by it too. For every party that makes a post like that here, how many more are there that don't even know about this website? There is a vast diasporia taking place in this country, maybe like a 21st century version of the dust bowl, and one of the destinations seems to be Charlotte.

It's the Grapes of Wrath all over again.

I hear ya PC and I feel your frustration. HOWEVER, what you need to realize is that to these folks wanting to come here it's all relative.

Relative TO many other cities Charlotte is a beautiful, fantastic city to live in. Sure I know there are nicer places than Charlotte, but there are SO many others not nearly as nice and a lot of the folks writing here are just wanting to get to a better place - I don't blame them for that

Pink, I am with you entirely. The ones that really get to me are those that say..."I've never been there, but, I am planning on moving there next month"... WHO DOES THAT???
