What would you consider to be the most romantic venues within a few hours of Charlotte?

If you were going to plan a weekend with your sweetie, where would you take him/her?

Or, it could be a fabulous restaurant . . .

I think Charleston is very romantic and there are several restaurants there that I also think are romantic.

There may be a national or state park that you think is romantic. I know of a view near Grandfather that I think is really neat. Also, spots along the Parkway can be very romantic (but not for this time of year - as the Parkway is closed right now).

Please share your suggestions! Thanks so much!

Bent Creek Lodge - Bed and Breakfast near Asheville, NC

Vacationed there many times and even honeymooned there. The owners are great, the food is fantastic, and the location is dern-near perfect. They offer a few "romantic" packages to spice up your stay...or you can just pop in and stay unnoticed and relax if that's your game.

The Mast Farm Inn in Valle Crucis. Great place, fantastic restaurant, secluded and romantic.

A few years ago, I arranged a romantic weekend *in* Charlotte. We stayed at The Dunhill downtown, ate at Monticello for dinner and Carpe Diem for lunch, saw a show at Spirit Square. This was pre-cellphone days, so being away from the phone and home was heavenly! I loved the Dunhill, and the sense of being away, even though we were still in Charlotte.

I second the Grove Park Inn. Their spa is fabulous and you can get day passes without having any treatments. Another good one is the Inn at Biltmore. Very nice and on the Biltmore Grounds. It is a little chilly for the coast right now.
