You may wanna have the maintenance person at your complex take a look at your water heater and hvac to make sure it is all working normally/ That sounds a little high for a 1 bedroom.

From winter to summer we go!

Last month's Duke bill, ~$220. This month, I'm hoping it stays under $300! Our home is the typical 2-story, 4 BR house. Thermostat at 74F.

74? Wow, dont let my wife see that. We run 76 at night, and 78 during the day. We run our ceiling fans round the clock. 3800 sq ft house ran us $165 last month for electric. Not looking fwd to the next bill...

Mine was about 240 for the bill I got this week. Three units only two floors run most of the time third floor is the media room 4200 sq ft and the thermostat is at 79-80 (it is still comfortable) and ceiling fans. But that week in June with 9 days of 100 did it.

Just got my bill today and it was 105 for a 1 bedroom apt.. Turns out my air conditioning system was low on freon and maintenance recharged the system today. I am hoping my electric bill is cut in half next month.

The home I rent has an odd thermostat - if it's set to A/C, then the fan runs continuously! I took the cover off the thermostat, and it's made that way! There is an "auto" setting for the fan, and "on", and when it's set to A/C ("cool"), the switch automatically sets to "on", there's no way to have it on "auto".

I've never seen one like it before - maybe the theory is it's ultimately more efficient to have the fan on?

I was surprised to find that mine for last month was only 135. We have a big house with an old system and not great insulation so I expected it be higher. Indeed, last year it was. The only difference this year was that we got new covering for some of the "pipes" that go from the blower to the duct work.
