Just be aware, there is a flood of xray techs and not enough jobs for them all in our metro region. I've been told by friends who are experienced techs that what schools are doing by recruiting so many students when there are no jobs for them all should be considered criminal. The only non-saturated related field these days in MRI techs - but the schooling takes longer and is not available anywhere in NC I don't believe, just FYI.

There's a waiting list at all the colleges, too. BUT - the good thing is - you can go get all your pre-requisites BEFORE being entered in the program. I would advise getting enrolled, getting a degree while you wait to get a spot in a program. Don't apply to just ONE school/program. Be willing to drive.

It is a great career, but as loves said NO JOBS, some of my friends are working at Starbucks. If you go to school just be prepared. Good Luck

Well, there are no jobs right here. However, in underserved areas in other states, there are jobs . . . you just have to be willing to relocate and go where the job is, which could be Colorado.

There are two schools close by that offer it....Carolina's College of Health Sciences and Cabarrus College of Health Sciences. Both have a long list to get into. You usually have to have all of your paperwork, etc in the December before the fall that you want to start, i.e. December 09 to start in the fall of 2010. They only take a limited # of students and that # is very small. Once you get your ARRT you can look into taking classes for CT, MR tech, or even a specials tech. If you are not tied down to the area you can also become a traveling tech once out of school. They usually pay for your housing while you are a traveling tech with them. Good luck!
