I know this is a long shot, but are there any neighborhoods in Matthews or Pineville where I could easily walk to shops and the bus?

Try the CATS (Charlotte buses). They have bus routes posted online. I'm not sure there is a bus route in many parts of the Matthews area. It is limited. Good Luck! Most shops are not within walking distance, unless your downtown Matthews.
I don't know the Pineville area, so I can't help you there...except they do have ample buses in that area.

Trade Street commons in Matthews. 3 story townhouses, with pool. Walk to Matthews Festival: anything you want.
note: might have to cross some roads

Thanks! Anything with single-family homes?

LauraerieL-- I have looked at the CATS map, but I don't know what the neighborhoods are. For example, I did see that there are two bus lines that go by Matthews Town Hall and Presby Matthews, but I don't know how walkable it is near there or what the subdivision is called.

CATs website has a trip planner you can try that, give your start and destination address and it will tell you your commute time for walking and by bus with directions and maps.
