your right, but there is data behind the statistics. There is a difference between shoplifting and assault/murder.... knowing whats behind the number is important.
I'm just asking future residents to do THEIR research because many people here seem to have diareah of the mouth and not much to back up their rants.

I have also met some of my future neighbors when out there and it seems like some good people. Diversity is a good thing and, if you're worried about SES (Socio-Economic Status) there are plenty of BMW's, Mercedes, and Lexus' parked in the driveways. There seems to be a dominantly prosperous vibe in Berewick and surrounding areas and it shoudl only get better and better. The beauty in the fact that the Steele Creek area used to be questionable means that we all stand to make a lot on our properties going forward. Look at the Southend area where it used to be "ghetto" several years ago. People who bought townhomes and condos for $200k are now selling them for close to a million.
The fact is, the neighborhood is still young and, with Charlotte trying to boost its image (and income averages throughout the south) we shouldn't have much to worry about. Especially with Papas building the area along with the neighboring communities. I'm fairly certain Papas does a whole lot of detailed research as well as projections on how an area will turn out and they have confidence - take some comfort in that.
But like others have been saying, rather than just sitting on here talking about the negatives, use your power as a resident to do something about it by going to the meetings, reporting negatives to the HOA, and, if you have the time and dedication, try to get on the board. It's a small investment in relation to the fact that we all could be here for 10+ years raising or starting our families. After all, our children are our future and so on and blah blah blah...

I completely agree. I think you will find the vast majority of the residents here to be good neighbors and in some respects this thread seems to have blown things out of proportion. Berewick is a nice new community with a lot of potential.
As for the HOA, they are active. The point of this thread was about non-residents using the facilities and this was stopped by a combined effort of the HOA, residents and local police.
If you want to post an opinion on the community, maybe you should come on down and take a look for yourself. Everyone has a right to their own perspective, I happen to think berewick will thrive over the next few years.

As I recall, the opinions and concerns were posted by residents and new owners. These weren't outsider opinions.
Maybe the neighbors are good people but clearly, not everyone is comfortable with whom they are living beside.
You say the issue of non-residents using the facilities was stopped but earlier posts indicate that this is a current problem, a week or so ago by some accounts.
My point was I didn't think voicing dissatisfaction in an online public forum was going to help anyone's plight. And at the least, it would do more harm than good as it would certainly deter certain people from even considering the community as a possible home. I can assure you that public drinking and excessive loitering would certainly turn me off.
Consider this, if I do an Internet search on "Berewick" right now, there's a good chance that this thread will appear high on the list. Probably not the picture residents want painted ...

I am a berewick resident and yes the initial comments were by a couple of others either living here already or building. But as the thread went on there were a number of posters that have never been to the community. I'm not criticizing... just saying it would be better to not make generalizations sight unseen.
This thread has been blown so far out of proportion its not even funny. Public drinking? I haven't seen this at all. Its really a nice crowd here for the most part... every neighborhood will have a bad apple or two. The non-resident issue was resolved this past week... it had been going on for a week or two and now has stopped (hopefully for good).
And honestly, I don't think one thread in a public forum is going to make or break someone wanting to move here. I know one of the builders has a waiting list and for the most part prices have been on a steady increase.
In the end, only time will tell. My point is let's keep it all in perspective and if you really are curious about the community come out and take a look.

I actually looked at Berewick last year after seeing alot of folks posting about it. I liked the fact that it had lots of stores, restautants and shops going in. I dragged my husband down there to take a look. I actually would have moved in there I think it would have been a good investment. My husband who happens to be a (monority-non white) did not like it at all. But me (white) would have lived there. Maybe he had a better eye than me I don't know.

Doesn't look like it. Looks like maybe you should have gone with your gut, where did you end up buying?

After reading all these posts about how nice Berewick is, I am convinced that I made a good purchase. I apologize if I blew things out of proportion. Maybe those people that were being "disgruntle" were not from the community. In reality most of the times I drive by the area it is pretty quiet and all the people I pass by in my car wave hi at me. Due to the Master Plan and the recent expansion of 485, I believe Berewick will be the next Ballantyne area. It has lots of potential including proximity to Uptown, airport, shops, the lake and all the nice people that call it home.

Huntersville, we wanted to be close to the lake. I would have gone with either. I was looking for an investment but he was not interested in that area at all. I dragged him but it was a no go. I had a Shea picked out and everything.
I work in the Steele Creek area now and I'm glad we chose Huntersville after all. I have to travel but it's not that bad, I'm used to traveling.
His second choice would have been Union county he works down there and likes it a lot but still won't give up the lake area for it

Unless youre living ON the lake, why invest in an area that compared to Steele Creek is underdeveloped in comparison (it could be your cup of tea, just being devils advocate
You watch and see, those of you that bought into the steele creek area will be happy you did, expecially if building and retail continue to prosper, proximity to the expanding airport, THE LAKE and uptown... We'll all see a nice increase in property value... Just sit tight and enjoy

There's actually a vibe about living around the lake Norman area. I don't think it's a vibe everyone picks up on, it's kind of a weird thing really. You don't have to live on the lake to enjoy the area here. There's lots of new developement going up here including Langtree on the lake and the proposed Village of Lake Norman.Birkdale is a staple for us I realize it's not for everyone. I like the fact that Huntersville is a short trip to downtown also.
I agree Berewick is a nice investment.
