This thread is about the Berewick neighborhood not racism in the South. Besides there's no need to worry. You'll get plumb tuckered out!

What? Where did this come from? Berewick is very diverse. Were you reading something about the basketball court from 3 years ago? We fixed that problem...
Anyway, the deal with The Housing Partnership is off (the recent stuff on this thread). Score one for our awesome neighborhood!!!!!

The Housing Partnership has withdrawn from the project. The rezoning is still on, but Dixie River Land Company (Pappas Properties) is now the petitioner.
The conditional R-17MF zoning requested will allow up to 108 units, which can be rental apartments, condos, townhouses, or senior housing. At a community meeting last night, Peter Pappas said he couldn't predict what would be there, but the Housing Partnership is no longer involved. There is no specific plan or timetable.
The rezoning will give the whole 8 acre parcel the same zoning and allow a single use. Now part is MX-1 and part is commercial center. The current zoning allows 104 units.

I know it's an old thread, but this is still going on...

I thought we lived in an era when racism was far and few between. Obviously from this blog it is not. Living in this neighborhood, I know for a fact it is diverse, which makes it so unique and wonderful. There are people from all different nationalities making up the Berewick Community.
If the people who have spoken on this blog would like to live in the "white" area, get better jobs and move to Southpark. Stop acting like you are better than anyone else in the community.
Be the change you wish to see in the world!

I agree with this post totally. As a Berewick resident, I see the attitude you speak of everyday. We have been here a year now and have tried hard to make friends amongst our neighbors. The going has been slow, though, mostly due to the racist attitude that runs rampant here. We are a biracial family of 5. We work and live like everyone else here. When I meet a new neighbor things go great until they see that my children aren't pale enough or my husband is dark-skinned. What a disappointment! We are good, kind, respectful people. It is so sad to see the attitudes displayed here and on other Berewick forums. The thinly veiled racism is shameful. "Colorful"? Gangbangers? Don't even get me started on the gold teeth comment. I don't want gang activity in my neighborhood, or anywhere else for that matter, but what does the color of a person's skin, the style or quality of their clothes or their dental upkeep have to do with anything? If you have a problem with black people, at least be adult enough to call it what it is, racism. We have great ethnic diversity in Berewick and that is why we moved here. We hoped to fit in, but I am less inclined each day to WANT to fit in amongst such closed-minded neighbors.

what, specifically has made you think that people like you up until they see the color of your husband's or children's skin? Perhaps you are the one with a problem.
