One of the news channels tonight did a story on the Charlotte Mecklenburg Court Watch. I went to their website and I am very impressed! They are volunteers in the community that go to the court cases of repeat offenders. Apparently each division of the county has their own color of t-shirt (this shows a judge that an offender has multiple crimes in multiple areas of the county) and they make themselves known by sitting in the courtrooms during a trial. They also post the repeat offenders on their website and report the judges rulings in the cases!

Default Repeat offenders in Mecklenburg County

I just saw this posting and replies after looking up CharMeck Court Watch. We recently volunteered and have spent time in court monitoring the cases of repeat offenders who represent an ongoing threat to our community.

While it is hard for many people to attend court proceedings because they work normal business hours, there are many people who have flexible schedules or who are retired who can help CharMeck Court Watch make a difference. The group needs volunteers. There are two meetings a month and even if a person can only attend court once or twice a month, the help is welcome. And, it might open up a person's eyes as to the lack of accountability on the part of some judges who don't get it; repeat offenders with multiple misdemeanors and or are convicted felons are a scourge on this county. Judges, come election time, need to be held accountable, based on their failure to deal appropriately with some of the worst criminals in the county.

Join Char Meck Court Watch, please.
