My husband has crohns and right now we live near the leading hospital in the nation for it but I am hoping that someone could refer me to someone in Charlotte since we are planning to maybe move there but would need to know this was in place first.

Ask someone in the GI Dept where he is treated for a referral in Charlotte. This metro area has a major medical center plus there are a few major ones a few hours north of here.

Thanks, Did that, they didnt seem to have an idea or personally know of anyone. I find word of mouth from someone who has one to be the best. There are alot of really BAD gastros out there and with his health it is not something I want to trial and error with.

I am very happy with my gastro but I don't know if he is taking new patients. I sent you a DM with his info.

My friend has Crohn's. I'll try to remember to ask her about her doctor. She has a pretty severe case, fairly recently diagnosed, but is doing well, now.

For a straight medical approach Dr. Gaspari (no joke) worked with me when I was diagnosed in '98. CLT GI @ Mercy South in Pineville, Seemed professional, personable and had a positive experience. Dr. Moose was my surgeon and did a fine job with my resection.

After 2 yrs. of treatment & dissatisfied with treatment I made great gains with the specific carbohydrate diet and have turned to diet & homeopathy with great success.

Good luck with the battle, it can be very difficult I know.

I realize that it is important for your husband to have an MD looking over his care, and I don't know of any GI docs (other than a pediatric one). But, if he is interested in alternative care in conjunction with his traditional treatment, then I know of a great naturopathic physician who is extremely knowledgeable regarding gastrointestinal disorders. His name is Dr. Michael Stadtmauer (www.drstadtmauer.com).
