Default Fun place any day...

When I have business colleagues come in from out of town, I like to take them to Melting Pot. Always fun any day of the week!

Depends on what you want to eat, steak, Thai, tapas, French.........

What is your preference?

I would take them someone unique to the area like Mac's Speed Shop or McKoy's Smokehouse. They can go to the Melting Pot in Raleigh.

I would go somewhere uptown, but it all depends on your budget, preference, etc.
If you like micro beer there are a few good places. Rock Bottom has a good brewer, not sure about their food though.

If you want micro brews go to Hops. You can go to Rock Bottom anywhere.

Hops Online

Decent food and not terribly expensive.

I would not recommend Hops. Just my opinion. I don't see what is so fun about it truth be told. True that you can go to Melting Pot in Raleigh, but it is still fun nonetheless. Plus I know a lot of people that have a Melting Pot in their own cities and have never tried it, like those that I take there from out of town, so I stand by Melting Pot as somewhere fun and a rather unique experience. You know at one time fondue parties were all the rage!

I love fondue and have my own pot. But it seems like you need to spend about 3 hours at Melting Pot if you get the full meal. If the guest is only there for a day, that would eat up a good portion of it. I went to one in Boise and agree, it is a wonderful dining experience.

From the reviews I have seen regarding Hops, it looks OK. To me it is all about the beer - but I am a homebrewer and like a good ale when I go out.

Mac's and McKoys are always busy! McKoy's plays good classic rock, so that is fun to me! You could also eat somewhere uptown and then go to Howl at the Moon in the Epicenter. It is a sing-along piano bar.
