I think I posted the link to this stuff earlier on in this thread.
I believe there are agencies out there willing to help out with the $100. I was told that ACORN (or the organization formerly known as ACORN) was helping out with the $100, lol. No, seriously. But since I have not found that anywhere (and I doubt they are gonna PUBLISH that info) . . . I have no way of proving that ACORN has been handing out the $100 bills when folks just couldn't scrape it up for their new gubment subsidized mortgage downpayment.
It sounds like I am making this up - I know. But you can google this stuff and read it, too! And I think if folks look back a few pages, they can find where I posted it already (link to program info).
Of course, these are only for specific houses, but they are going into foreclosed neighborhoods and making those houses available. I believe they are financed through either Fannie or Freddie. (Forget wh/ agency handles those types of loans).
Your tax dollars at work!
Sounds like you are making it up. What amount then would they be approved for? I would then make sure that the government then continues to give me that check. I heard on CNN this morning that these kinds of government subsidies like extended unemployment benefits and such do not help people to get on their feet (for the most part) basically they see no reason to it is easier to get that money than to get a job. They make take meanignless jobs so that they work for a little while then get fired or whatever. I am doing something wrong I say.
And... guess what? The Charlotte Observer is at it again. This time it is yet ANOTHER story on the Ballantyne HOA issue and the tone of this one is to call the residents liars: Ballantyne rezonings are not new, but opposition is - CharlotteObserver.com (http://www.charlotteobserver.com/2010/03/13/1310189/ballantyne-rezonings-are-not-new.html - broken link)
The Observer's editor did a long column in favor of affordable housing in Ballantyne, which was left up on their website for nearly a month. It is clearly obvious that the Observer is not about reporting the news but instead is pushing an agenda.
I just wrote a letter to the Editor and Columnist about the above article. What an outrage. They are continuing to write about something that ended a month ago!
The Observer has exposed some pretty large scandals over the past 2 years from the United Way to the House of Raeford and they refuse to write a letter about the corrupt nature of the CHA
Thie deal was shady from the get go with the Developer and an inside connection of his business partner on the CHA Board who conveniently left before everything was exposed.
I can't get the image out of my head of the young punk developer and his pencil necked crony on the stage of the Harrison UMC fumbling through every answer of the questions asked of them during the community meeting. These guys couldn't handle an adult question from an educated group so how the heck are they qualified to build a development essentially using my tax dollars.
But no, it's the "evil rich" against the poor people once again! It's enough to make me cancel my subscription. The fact that they were paid something with my tax dollars just for going through the motions ticks me off.
Willing to bet that they don't publish that letter. It doesn't fit their agenda.

I think that is the most racist statement i have ever heard. I am on section 8, lost my job and then I qualified for assistance. Since then, I have not sat on my ass, or had a houseful of grandkids who steal or corrupt my community. On the contrary, I went back to school and received an MBA, with honors.
I have started a business, and expanding. So please, before you spout ignorance, get some much needed cultural sensitivity training. You may, or your children may have to come to me for employment.

No one is upset about folks getting vouchers who need them while they are trying to get on their feet, who are elderly or who are disabled. Many of us have clearly stated that throughout this thread. My stepdaughter had a voucher when she was starting out in her career and making povery level wages.
There is nothing racist about questioning tax money going to people who are gaming the system. People who are engaged in these activities come in all colors. It is not a race issue so let's not make it into one.
