Question Moving to Charlotte Need HELP!

My husband is being relocated to the Charlotte area. I need information, I have 2 small children, one will be in first grade in the fall & another will start preschool. I need to know what area I should be looking into. We currently live in Ohio & I send my children to private school only because the public schools around here are TERRIBLE. I would like a great public school, any suggestions? Also, we need to look for houses I want a safe, family community where they have kids that my kids could play with? Thanks in advance for the help.

Jessica

Welcome, Jessica. The first question is always: what is your price range...and where will you/your husband be working? Also...how far are you willing to commute? Charlotte is lovely and you will love it. I have a first grader next year as well. Good luck. Everyone here is very helpful.

Wink Welcome Jessica

Im sure you have found plenty of advice...mine would be to look in the University area, Highland Creek area, they have their own NEW school. I live in Highland Park. Take note, it is very very different down here compared to the north. I am from Indiana and have only been here for a year and a half. Takes some, no, more than some, getting used to here. Write for more questions, comments or if you want to get in touch. Ranada

Why is that? I am from Ohio originally, have lived up and down the east coast in the past 20 yrs though and enjoy each place. I find that generally people are people with their own quirks I don't see some of the things you all have in other threads, racism, yankeeism (is that a word?? ), snotty ppl (they are EVERYWHERE) etc...?????? I am just curious. We looked in that area but Meck Schools are rapidly changing, isn't part of Highland Creek in Cabarrus?

I agree with indraman a price point would be helpful so we can best recommend areas. I am partial to south Charlotte and Union county. Best of luck to you!

Thank you for responding to me, I appreciate it. We want to rent till we sell our house up here in Ohio then we will look to buy. Our price range to rent depends on the house, we need a 4 to 5 bedroom home with a nice size back yard in a great school district..that is the most important. Any ideas on preschool??

Where your husband will be working will really depend on where you will want to concentrate your search. Charlotte is a big area....and traffic is not pretty. Once you let us know where that is....the opinions will fly!!

A home that size will rent for $1500. to 3000. a month in Charlotte. Is this what you had in mind? As has already been stated, unless money is no object, giving us your price point will enable us to point you in some direction.

Can you give me more info on the suburbs of charlotte, please? We're thinking about relocating from NoVA. We also have 3 small children so good schools is priority. Traffic...ha! It takes my hubby 1hr+ to travel 6 miles. So every thing else would be a delite! I am in the healthcare field, so I can probably get a job anywhere, but my hubby would be working in the city.
Thanks
3N2YRS!
