Default Keep watering your grass...next week you won't be able to shower!

I know all you newcomers just put in new lawns and landscaping (which is completely foolish, because none of it will survive the summer - fall is the ONLY time you can get your new lawn to get enough roots to survive). However, if every single one of you takes the attitude of these folks, then no one will be taking a shower and you will be drinking mud soon. For heaven's sake...could you at least TRY to follow the suggestions of the folks who are trying to provide you with water? Water alternate days and only at night. I hope Carl Pileggi has to pay $500/day for every single day that he thumbs his nose at the mandatory restriction!

One way to conserve water: If you go the bathroom if it's yellow let it mellow, if it's brown, flush it down.

That's been the mantra in our home for years (water restriction or not, unless we have guests staying with us). Do yourselves and our good Earth a favor and replace old toilets that use excessive amounts of water to flush, get high efficiency, front-loader washers and, for goodness sakes, only run your dishwasher when it's FULL!
Why is this nation so waste-full???

Wow, hopefully this isn't turning into a Sheryl Crow philosophy on "waste management".

Growing up in South Florida, the mandatory water restrictions were no big deal- moving to the Northeast, and now coming back South, it's interesting to see it all again.

The person in the article is over watering their lawn. I agree with MarvinNative it's going to take a good year for the root system to take hold, so it's sort of a grin and bear it until next year (but you should still water once a day or so). Do all the right stuff in the fall, and you'll be all smiles come next April/May.

I'm actually now happy I have Bermuda grass, it's hardy during the hot days and I only water it a couple times a week and only after sunset (watering during the day virtually has no effect as it's quickly evaporated). Towards the end of the summer maybe I'll do 3 times a week.
