I appreciate those that gave a referral.

It's not that I don't have the money, it's that I'm paying out of pocket, so I want to make sure I'm paying a reasonable price. Fee's can vary greatly, and I don't need to go to a dentist with a koi pond outside and an a salt water aquarium inside where the fees might be much higher.

I'm just trying to find a reasonably priced dentist that comes recommended. I don't want Dr. Nick from the simpsons

Reasonably priced to me is $75 for a cleaning.

my take on this:
i am afraid of being offered services that i dont need
my experience: i was told to have four cavities taken care of. but had to move to a different city due to work and the new dentist and specialist inform that i need only one in near future and none seriously/immedeatly
dentist get paid big bucks for the proceedures. if you dont do those the money they get paid will be barely sufficient. so they are biased to offer proceedures
according to one readers digest article several years ago dentistry in this country is widely varied and care services depends on the area and insurance coverage(if i remember it correctly it was between $300 to $7000 yes 7thousand for their test subject across this country)

i am yet to find a dentist in this town (relatively new for me), who is known to offer treatment and advice which is needed at that time and not something that can wait few years as those can be monitored during follow up

When I didn't have insurance many years ago, I went to a dental school for my work. That could be one option if you want to save a lot of money. I don't know of any in this area since I am so new here though. The students are usually in their last year before they can work on patients and are usually supervised quite closely.

TV's is another thing I'd rather not have and get cheaper prices. I couldn't believe it when I moved here and all 3 dentist places we looked at were so "fancy". Hope we don't need major dental work soon!
