Charlotte seems like the place I want to relocate to but I don't want suburbia. I'm looking for a little space in the area but can't find any listings for such. Suggestions please.

Try Midland, or even Unionville - areas east of Mint Hill, still rural but with access to I485, or even Mint Hill itself if those others are TOO rural

Options in Monroe ... Statesville ... how about Anson County?

Just how close to Charlotte do you need to be?

Also, what's "a little space" exactly? We're on a bit more than an acre.

Looking for a subdivision, or non-sub? Newer home or older community?

Where will you work? Are schools a concern?

Maybe move this post to the Charlotte forum for more insight.

Thanx for the info. I would like 1-3 acres. Schools are of no concern, a job while necessary isn't much of a concern either. I'd be paying cash for the home so the only income I would need would be for the essentials of daily living. I don't want a sub/suburpia. Older homes are nice, they have character and are better built, depends more on other factors.

Some areas I'd throw in the mix too would be Cherryville, Kings Mnt., Mt. Pleasant. They have a rual feel, but still in the Charlotte metro.

Very nice position to be in. Folks here have made solid suggestions. A matter of personal preferences at this point but as you can see, there are still semi-rural and even rural areas remaining in the Charlotte metro. I hope you find your dream. We have.

Totally off topic, PM me if you'd like to reply ... curious about your username. What does it mean? Some familiarity for me.

Best of luck to you.

Sincerely,

Sara
