I had TW Cable at my previous apt. Had very basic cable for $10 a month (all I needed and somehow got HBO w/out charge). The HS internet was $45 per month and the phone was $40 a month with unlimited calling to Canada as well. Before I was paying $80 a month in my homephone bill alone, so this was a good deal. Also, TW's modem for internet access and digital phone includes battery backup for 10 hours if your power goes out (and it works). Also, their 911 servive works much better than the alternatives like Vonage as TW is like a hybrid between voip and regular phone. Occasionally if I was on the phone and got close to my computer, it would get a little staticky, bu no big deal. Their phone service also has free caller id and everything except the voicemail (you can get a cheap digital answering machine for $20 now). I'd say it's decent but also explore your other options like AT&T which bought Bellsouth and will soon have cable (their speeds aren't as fast as cable but still much faster than dial-up).

i think the prices are an outrage. however, right now we dont have much choice in our marketplace as consumers. sad, really.

I don't use a digital phone, but my cable and internet bill will look something like this:
$29.99 for RR
$39.99 for basic cable
Everything else is extra. The good thing about time warner is if you have technical issues and you call more than once for the same issue, they'll throw in HBO for free. I keep my 29.99 rate on RR because the cable modems they use always go down for me at least once a month. I make sure they document every time this happens, and they'll first try sending out new modems. If it happens again, I just say, I'm not paying until you get this straightened out. They'll usually throw in a month free. When the 6 months is up for 29.99 road runner service, I call and ask if I can extend it. If they say no, I say i'm going to go with a dsl service at 29.99. Usually they'll knock me back down. Its a hassle, but until Verizon's FiOS comes to Charlotte, That's all we got.

I'd question the one time charge for HD. I never had to pay that!! I simply told them I wanted an HD DVR which they provide for the same $6.95 as they do the regular DVR. I do pay extra for the Added HD Tier.
Not sure what the $29.99 charge is for.

I guess they set the hosue up to enable HD. I am not sure. I was hoping my DH will know!

phone and cable
that's weird they told me I didn't need a box for every room to get the basic 100 channels. I don't need on demand or anythign liek that in the guest room or kitchen so I guess I will be okay.
I will have to ask about that long distance then b/c I have everyone in pA to talk to!
