Well, I'm not sure that just doing a web search is how I would choose a city to relocate to in a foreign country, but we'll be glad to have you! I would personally choose a city where I knew someone or that had a large population of people from the same part of the world as me.

Good luck.

Do you have a visa or green card in process? I am am immigrant as well (from Canada) and I can tell you from experience that they can be difficult to get. They are also expensive and take a lot of time.

Charlotte seems like a great place. My husband and I have spent time there and plan to relocate if he gets the job that he just interviewed for.

With that said, I can also tell you that it is hard immigrating to a new city/country without a support system in place. If you have friends or family in America you might want to start out near them and then branch out from there.

I wish you well and hope that everything works out for you.

Charlotte is a great place to study English. One of the best English programs in the US is called ELTI, located at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Here is how to contact ELTI:

To each their own. I did it and my brother did it, all with our families in tow.

Having a large population from the same part of the world is a positive and a negative. One move we were considering had such an Americanize section we would be living in, we turned down the offer. We were looking to expand our experiences, not just have more of the same someplace new.

We just moved here, so I do not know about much beyond our neighborhood. Our area is very mixed in terms of origins, temporary transplants, etc. from all over the US and the world.

People here seem to be judged more by how nice they are. Things like: waving as you drive by, being considerate of your neighbors, keeping your house/apartment neat, etc.

Is there racism against Muslims or Arabs?
That depends. No, if you become part of the community and respect the American culture, people, laws and customs. Yes if you do not. Americans are for the most part very tolerant and giving people. They like to enjoy life, families and learn about others cultures.

Good luck and enjoy the South
