I have to decide tomorrow Dish, Direct TV or Uverse. I've completely eliminated TWC because of so many complaints. I also think the satellite might be a problem because we have a row of trees in the back of the house that are very tall trees, not so big but tall. We have a one level home so I'm thinking the dish might not work, so Uverse might be a good option for us. I've already checked and it is available in our neighborhood. Just looking for comments from people that have it now.
I like it and have had it since Dec '09 - I swapped from TWC. I prefer it, but it doesn't do cart-wheels or anything.....I simply prefer being able to use some of the features (recording 4 stations at once) that I didn't have previously. There will also be channel line-up preferences to consider before making the commitment.
Another side-benefit I had was switching ISPs from TWC's RoadRunner to AT&T is that I am now able to access ESPN360 and use AT&T hotspots (like in Starbucks)
Which internet speed do you recommend for just daily emailing and games. The Pro pkg seems a little slow at 3 mbps. I was thinking the Max pkg at 12 mbps should be sufficient
I will never use TWC for Internet Service again. Used it in two different parts of town. Once I moved to the area of town I am now living in, a couple months later, Bell South had DSL. I immediately switched over. A few weeks ago, I switched over to Uverse for Internet Service and I love it. Hope this helps.
Do they use the existing cable lines to install Uverse or do they have to drill a hole in your house and start a new line?
Your TV/internet/phone will all come to your home over the old telephone line (two wire).
A small box will be added to your home at the arrival of the this line and backfeed through your home's cable wiring, should be NO new holes or mess in your home if you are simply switching from TWC to U-Verse.
We have UVerse now and love it, but unfortunately have to cancel because we are moving to an area that has no access to AT&T. If it becomes available, I will switch in a heart beat.
I've discussed this before in threads regarding Internet service in Charlotte.
When UVerse gets going, and it sounds like a lot of you have it, the technology will blow away anything TWC has available, or will have available for years. TWC just doesn't care about the Carolinas in terms of giving you real value for your service. Customer service? Steady internet speeds? Programming value? I had TWC once and it was just a filthy nightmare from ordering to installation to hardware.
I do have DSL and DirecTV - can't complain about DTV, except I wish the DVR was a bit faster to go through. When UVerse gets here, I'm jumping on board and getting the highest speed and taking it from there. It's a no brainer comparing the two in Charlotte.
