Anyone else been hit by bronchitis that passed over the cold stage, over the simple cough and went straight (within 1-2 days) to bronchitis?

Coughing like a madman; never had a cold to begin with!

Well I did in December. Went from a sinus infection to bronchtis within a few days. And I was already on an antibiotic for the sinuses. Got 101 fever and the whole thing. Missed a week and a half of work over it.

Feel better.

Dealing with it right now. Very strange stuff - assumed it was allergy-related, from all the moisture and then warmth creating mold/fungi, to wh/ I am TERRIBLY allergic.

me, too, Ani. It came on suddenly, slight tickle in my throat on Sunday AM, (after dusting on Sat; again, I am allergic) by Sunday night was coughing, Monday & today, you can hear it in my chest!!

Someone said it sounded like the H1N1 flu? Do you think so?

That is almost exactly the etiology of what I have. HOWEVER, I had H1N1 earlier this year . . . well, no one diagnosed me by taking a test but that is what it appeared to be (was NOT like the regular "flu" - all upper chest congestion and a cough I kept for weeks). And I was running a fever.

This time, absolutely no fever. Last nite, I woke up and had such an acute tightening in my chest - I could not breathe well - so decided to take some cough syrup and just sit up. Jumped in shower and that seemed to help a lot.

Seemed to loosen up - I went back to sleep. Today I have done pretty well. Still no fever - checked it about an hour ago.

Usually, I get bronchitis as a secondary infection after dealing with sinus infections for weeks (even when on antibiotics). This really caught me by surprise. HOWEVER, the reason I feel it is allergies (besides not having a fever) is b/c I took the dog out Thurs and Fri and my face started itching and my head completely stopped up and then immediately started with the sneezing. By the time I was in (both trips outdoors) i had a head full of clear mucus (not to be too graphic - but it was like someone had turned on the faucet!) That is typically how I react when exposed to high spore count with mold/fungi.

I had a good day - very little coughing. But now that I am back in this house (was in the car and an urban environment for most of the day), I am coughing again - wh/ leads me to believe - something around my yard is bothering me badly.

Now, if I were running a fever, I would be inclined to think this is not allergies.

I gotta tell ya - this is NOT the way my allergies usually run their course. I usually get a sinus infection and have that for a while b/f getting bronchial involvement - so this has really surprised me.

Well, I will say that I cough more at work, but, no doubt, the place is filthy, full of mold & dust...so....

Like you, I usually have a sinus infection first, then, it progresses to bronchitis. This one went directly to the bronchitis, bypassing the sinus thing. Don't even feel congested or stopped up. Just coughing like a crazy person. IF something comes up, well, it is clear. But, it is all in my chest which is weird.

I also think that I already had the H1N1, (last year) so, although I will watch this (whatever it is!) I think (hope, pray) this is just something else.

Tonight I am feeling a bit exhausted having coughed the entire day. Also have had a headache. Drinking some tea/honey; honey being a natural antibiotic and of course, having my double garlic tab doses with my vitamins. Going to try to go to bed early with a night-time cough syrup. Hope this goes away soon!

It must be pollen. I am experiencing very similar symptoms. Thought I was getting a cold on Friday night (throat felt a little sore), then nothing but a little rawness in the chest for the last few days. I have symptoms like I'm sick, but I don't really feel sick. I even went running yesterday... What's odd is that I typically don't have any allergy problems.
