Had a couple women ring the doorbell around 7:45pm tonight selling vacuum cleaners. Of course, it's dark that time of night in March, so I went to the door thinking it's my neighbors! Surprise surprise!

On top of pissing me off because we have "NO SOLICITING" posted at the entrances to the neighborhood, she tells me that she "talked to the cops" about it and that it's OK for her to be peddling her wares after dark. I told her to shove off and I locked my door and called 311 to find out if any of that's true.

Yeah, it's a lie. Dispatcher told me the woman was full of crap and the police can't give you permission to disobey a "NO SOLICITING" sign. The woman was a scrawny looking redhead with a taller black woman working with her. If you see them coming around, tell them to get lost.

I'm thankful for my two large dogs that would chase away solicitors such as these!

Since there is no law that says I have to come to the door for anyone, we simply do not answer the door unless we're expecting someone. Even then we have a couple of windows we can peek out of to be sure whether it's someone we care to open the door for.
