We are dying to take a break from Charlotte and go to a beach, for a quick getaway. We would really appreciate some advice on dog-friendly beaches.................The problem is that there are soooo many options!! We are not being able to decide which one would be more dog friendly and accomodating. The options are (which I have compiled after going through oher posts):

1. Myrtle beach
2. Charleston
2. Oak Island, NC
3. Hilton Head
4. Folly Beach

Folks, please advice, which one is better!!!!

Thanks so much!!

+1 for Myrtle Beach before June 1. Make sure you go to Huntington Beach State Park while you're there. They allow dogs all year (on leash), but it's especially nice in the off season b/c there will hardly be anyone there and it's beautiful! Great shells too, if you're into that. I'm jealous, I need to get to the beach too!

I vote for Folly Beach! You can take your dog to brunch at Lost Dog Cafe while your there.Check it out at www.lostdogfollybeach.com Great food. I love the more laid back less commercialized feel and Charleston is right there. What more could you want! Have fun

Definitely recommend Folly Beach.

Charleston does not have beaches per se, but there is much to do there.
If you are in Charleston you would have Folly, Isle of Palms, Sullivan's Island
all within 15-25 minutes depending on traffic.

If you are looking to just go to the beach and do nothing my parents live on Fripp Island, SC. The most dog friendly beach I have ever been to. There isn't much to do on the island but relax however. Beaufort SC is not to far for shopping etc, but if you are looking for nightlife etc don't bother.

Thanks everyone for such enthusiastic responses!! So far it seems that Myrtle and Folly beach are the two popular choices. In case it makes a difference, we plan to go within the month of March. As to the activities we are looking for, I really cant think of anything but being on the beach. Reason being, I cant leave my dog alone in a strange hotel room. Dont wanna come back to find the place destroyed!!!!
