Anyone have any recommendations for a nice, authentic Italian restaurant in the Charlotte area?

Buca di Beppo is a chain. My sister's mother-in-law is the daughter of Italian immigrants & she loves going to Buca. There's one in Pineville. You could give it a try.

Buca di Beppo Italian Restaurant - Select a location for menus, reservations and hours

There are plenty. You don't have to go to a chain! Portofino is good. Luce, Coco Osteria, Mama Ricotta's, Il Nido to name a few.

Chuckles mentioned some good ones. Here are some more:

Frankie's Italian Grill (Morehead St)
Portofino Italian Rest. (Park Rd.)
Dolce Restaruant and Gelato (Kenilworth)

No shortage of good Italian restaurants.

I wouldn't have posted it, being a chain, but my sister's mother-in-lw is in her 80s & has always made her own pasta et all, from scratch.

My sister discovered the restaurant in Pittsburgh, when my nephew was in college there, & did not know it was a chain until one of her husband's nephews mentioned going to a restaurant by that name in Florida, where he was going to college. Since the name is odd, my brother-in-law looked online & found out that it's a small chain & found the only one near them. It turned out that his mother had been to that one & loves the place. She has no clue that it's a chain.

I have not been to the Buca in Pineville, but since my sister is aware that 3 of their locations are good, I mentioned it. It's just another choice.

I think Frankie's is closed now.

If you are looking for authentic Italian go to www.nadasitaly.com click on her favorite things (local businesses)and you will see a list of authentic Italian places she recommends. You can get all those menus there also.

If authentic Italian dishes with red sauce is your thing, I highly recommend www.angelasitalianrestaurant.com They are the best IMO and it helps that they are also easy on the wallet ecspecially when you print off coupon from their website.

BTW Frankies Italian Grill has been closed for a long time now.
