We recently bought a new house which we love but the landscaping is just terrible. The house (see pic) sits on a hill and the front yard is terraced. It's all weeds instead of grass and nothing grows on the slopes. The back yard is flat but it's full of weeds.

Can you recommend a good landscaper in Gaston county who would look at the property and develop a landscaping master plan which will need to address the following:
- Sow grass
- Some sort of ground cover for the steep slopes
- Weed control
- Install brick walking path & patio

If you don't know a landscaper, any ideas what kind of grass / groundcover would grow well on slopes? Thanks in advance!

Are you OK with doing it yourself?

I'd suggest that you look at Wayside Gardens' catalogue, online. They are just down the road in SC.

They have a low growing shrub that is called a potentilla that you could plant on the steep slope to hold the ground. If you don't like that, I suggest that you find a low-growing shrub that you do like for that slope.

I sprayed my front & back yards with weed killer, several times last summer. It's not as weedy now, but I'll be doing it again this year to get the weeds under control.
