I will be in Charlotte the 26 thru the 29th of July and I am reading all the post but it kind of gives you the same info. i am not into Museums but i do like festivals and Parades, out door activity. Is there anything else to do more exciting.:

I know you said no museums, but there are few places in the world who get the exhibit Body Worlds-- the controversial plastinicine real-bodies exhibit! You know the one thrown out of Europe? In town the whole time you are here:
