Kings Mountain has a weekly newspaper. The headline story for this week was about the arrest of 3 people (2 employees & the owner of a couple of sweepstakes parlors in Bessemer City. The Gaston County Police also confiscated the machines.

Well, Cleveland County is ignoring the phenomenon & it's up to the towns to decide what to do about them. I know that the City of Kings Mountain is looking at making them illegal, but that will do nothing about the ones in the unincorporated areas, especially the ones down at exit 5. Since part of Kings Mountain is in Gaston County, this should be interesting.

My thought, when I read the article, was that, since employees were arrested, in addition to the owner, if someone is looking at a job in Gaston County, & if they see these machines, they should pass on the job.

You know I was just going to post about something like this. On woodlawn near 77, there is this shop that is open 24 hours and it just has some banners on the store that say:
Pot o gold, Lucky Consignment, etc etc.
We weren't sure what it was. We drove by it and someone looked like they were getting in with a key and we asked what it was, she said 'sweepstakes.'
What is inside this places?

They have gambling machines in them. In the article on the Gaston County busts in the Kings Mountain Herald, a Gaston County Police statement referred to them being like Keeno machines.
