Was wondering if anyone out there has relocated to the Harrisburg area?
( Cabarrus County) Will be coming down in May and looking at some communities there. Any input on the area would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks

It's a very nice area with reasonable property taxes and very good schools. It's pretty rural-feeling (not a ton of local shopping), but you're within 15 minutes of university area shopping and 20 minutes of Concord Mills mall. It's also a convenient location to some of the major employment locations (uptown Charlotte and the university area). It's definitely worth a look!

I'm not sure what your price range is, but there are very nice new construction communities in various price ranges. Off of exit 36 on Rocky River Rd, you have Abbington (Shea, Niblock, and some semi-custom bulders in the 450k+ range), Kensington Forest (Niblock in the high 380's to mid 400's), Magnolia Springs (McCar in the high 200's to mid 300's), Litchfield Village (Lennar community just starting now... 2 sections... 1 in the low to mid 300's, another in the low to mid 400's), and Bridgepointe (Orleans community just starting now from the high 200's to the low 300's). A few miuntes off exit 36, there's a Baker community just getting started called Peach Orchard Estates (from the high 200's to the mid 300's), and another Niblock community called Porter's Landing (not in Harrisburg, but just outside... from the mid 200's to the mid 300's... my wife and I might be purchasing in this community soon).

Hope that helps!

Default Harrisburg/Concord?

A friend of mine just took a job in the Cochran Rd. area. I thought she said it was Harrisburg, but I see the address is actually Concord. Any suggestions for housing nearby? Something pet friendly - her dogs are her babies.

I live right in that area of Concord. It's pratically on the line between Harrisburg/Concord.
What type of price range? There are all sorts of places around. Great place to live!

Default Options

Hmm...that's a good question. I know she needs to be in something by June, but I doubt she has thought that far ahead, yet. Still exploring options. Renting temporarily/buying? She's currently in a 4-bedroom, 2-bath in Union County, so I guess something comparable. I think she is still in that "oh my gosh, I'm really moving" phase.

I liked the feel of Harrisburg but the commute worries me.

Also does anyone have information about the schools? When I checked greatschools it only listed an elementary school and a charter. Which would be the middle and high school for the harrisburg area?(carrabus co is large). TIA

Most likely CC Griffin Middle and either Central Cabarrus High or Hickory Ridge High (new school... I think it opens next year).
