It is national. They do it every year on their birthday. The stores collect donations for local charities. I worked at the one in Myrtle Beach during the summer while I was in college.

Back when Myrtle Beach was cool
That would be dangerous coming into work hungry
Even though I recently found a new love for MB
because during the off season
Why is Myrtle Beach so cheap

So true, Sunny. We were allowed a free cone each shift, but when it was slow we would just sit around and taste test all the flavors. It was a really fun place to work though!

i volunteered for the humane society last year at the arboretum location (advertising for petapalooza, adoptions, and more) and that line was constantly long and MANY people would wait on line, get their cone, head to the back of the line and eat it while they wait for cone #2. i couldn't believe how many people waited all that time for 2 or more free cones.
