Where can I return my NC license plates? It says on the site to mail them to an address in Raleigh? I figured I could just go into DMV and drop them off.

Better to take it to a nearby license plate bureau and get a receipt that shows you did return it.

It only takes a little bit of your time (I go to the Harrisburg site) and it is worth it just in case it gets lost of stolen in the mail.

I just did this with one of my plates. It was literally a 2 min process once I got through the line. Very easy and painless.

Concur, I just got new plate for new car yesterday. I am getting vanity plate (for daughter) Was told when vanity plate arrives, just come in to license plate agency (NOT DRIVERS LICENSE OFFICE) and drop it off, and in fact, since I have another plate listed on registration, I did not even have to stand in line, just slide it across the counter.

Good luck.

Did you drop it off because you moved out of state to avoid the taxes? I am moving to FM next month and wondered how the "rebate" works and if you get anything from it. Since I have yet to get my tax refund, I don't think I will be in any hurry to pay the tax bill when it comes since I registered my car in late January.
