I have a varied background...police dispatcher/911 operator...trained medical assistant (I would have to go back to school to be certified to work in NC)...retail sales...customer service....school aid. Currrently, I work as a concession supv at Charlotte Knights (seasonal). This job was as a cashier for the food service company that operates the cafes inside Lowes Corp. campus, 6miles from my house.

I've always dealt with the public, that wasn't the problem.

Well I didn't sign any cofidentiality clauses, so I guess I can.

During my 2 interviews, both bosses said I was being hired with the intention of being the "lead/go-to person", FOH supv., BUT they were going to introduce me at 1st as a new cashier & then "move me into the lead position" in 2-3 wks. Honestly, I was uncomfortable with that scenario, but thought, why not, I'll give it a try. I should have listened to my instincts & declined the position. I also did not know that being a cashier involved some other physical aspects, like cleaning...ALOT...but that was OK, I was getting used to it. It really was the attitudes of some of the other cashiers that made me realize that this job was NOT for me, that I should have listened to my instincts.

Not all of the cashiers were bad, but man...I'd rather swim with a school of hungry sharks than work there! I got in at 7:45 am yesterday, didn't clock in & just went into my bosses office & said,"I'm resigning". All she said was OK & nodded in understanding...nothing more. I gave her my reasons, told her the front of house staff will never accept me as a leader, I don't think this job is going to work out for me. She then said well I was very up front & didn't lie about them, they're a rough group. I agreed & proceeded to give her my assessment about each one of them & who I thought is expecting to be put in the lead position.

Basically, they have issues with these cashiers & wanted me to clean up the
mess they made. Sorry, but no. They should have done 1 of 2 things from the
beginning. 1- they should have hired a supv. from within. One in particular was fully expecting to be given the lead position when they opened this
service area since she was lead cashier for one of their smaller sublets in
the bldg. IMHO I think she should be the lead, don't know why they didn't do that in the 1st place. 2- if they weren't going to hire from within, then they should have introduced me on day one as the new lead/supv. & let's support her & work with her to make this operation the best in can be. I have training, customer service & supv. experience so I know I could have handled it. If it was handled that way from the get go, I might have had a fighting chance of getting these 8 women to work with me. Instead, I feel like I was thrown to the sharks.

Also, I was there 2 wks. & had not gotten any feedback from any of the bosses as to how I was doing. I felt like an idiot bouncing back & forth, always having to ask what do you want me to do next. I think I made the right decission to leave. :-(

Sunny, yes, I know that happens a lot. It is very, very sad.

If there are any police officers on this board, c'mon over...lots of great busts to be had in Faires Farms. Open containers, people parking on other people's lawns, loud music. Might better bring a paddy wagon or two. Probably in excess of 50 people at this party...

will wait until the 11.00 cutoff to make the formal complaint on 911. SIGH

Default Im Appalled By This

That was before my new life; I know it sucks but lets just look at the reality
of situation.

Now I think how positive this situation in gulf could be. Gulf sea life is something we once enjoy.
Think about all the jobs its creating. Putting all the EPA coast guard etc
to work. Making college assignmets... Get the Picture
