they should build access roads on each side like the ones in Texas and Arkansas.

Good idea, except that to build access roads off of Independence Blvd, we'd have to remove all the businesses we're talking about saving.

Those roads in Texas, Arkansas and many other places were planned out in the beginning.

monorail, monorail, monrail!

I wonder what they are planning to do with the area now that the old Haverty's is knocked down. I had read that WalMart wanted to go in there but never found out if the deal went through or not.

Looks like this is getting implemented now...McDonalds on Independence was torn down and I am ready for it to open back up!!! Let's get this expressway built and add in some service roads like in Texas. Been to DFW area often and it works perfectly. Doesn't have a negative effect on neighborhoods.

They've shut down most of the left hand turns in that area now and the light at Buick Drive is now a blinking yellow. It seems like traffic has eased slightly through there but it may be just because it is summertime.

The state of North Carolina does not know how to build a freeway. I lived in Texas for 12 years and the way they build freeway in urban areas give better access on both sides of the freeway.
They do not use big clover interchanges that take up a lot of land.
