Spring is everywhere in Charlotte, as SunnyKayak and several others have shown in picture threads recently. They inspired me to get out the ole camera and get out this morning. I thought I would like to let newcomers (and those considering moving here) see a few of the older, inner-city neighborhoods around the Southern end of town. For those not familiar with Charlotte, these photos were taken mainly in Dilworth, Freedom Park, Myers Park, South End, and a couple of Uptown since I was there.

Thanks for the compliments. I'll have to get out this summer & get some more in other neighborhoods.

I know this is slightly off-topic, but can anyone tell me what kind of trees are blooming white all over Charlotte right now? Not the Pear trees; I know those. But I'm horribly bad at knowing my trees and shrubs. You can see the trees I'm talking about in some of the pictures above, like the second picture, and the one of Freedom Park, and the churches. Are they cherry trees?

I think most of them are cherry trees. If you Google cherry trees on image search you will find a lot of detailed images of the blooms.
