The Sunday edition of the New York Times has a nice writeup on the new "museum district" of South Tryon in Charlotte, including the Wells Fargo Cultural Campus, and other attractions. Good slideshow included.

Thank you so much for posting this! I am proud to live in a city that is emphasizing the arts. I have felt Charlotte needed a more robust museum/arts district and it is wonderful to see how things are coming together. Nice article!

Saw the article on Sunday...have been to the Gantt Center, but now need to make it to the Bechtler...

Hopefully support for the arts (Arts & Sciences council just made their annual fundraising goal, but had to extend by a couple weeks) translates not just to the big operations (symphony, museums, etc) but also at a smaller, more grassroots level - be it music, dance, visual or other forms of expression.

Totally agree with that. And if the city/county can't support these events/efforts, I hope the public will give - even if small contributions. It all adds up.

I totally agree. I think it should be more grassroots support. Since this city has close to, if not more, than 700k, it would be nice if the citizens of the city got behind this truly wonderful and remarkable campus.

That center is going to impress corporations and draw new business here. It is a real asset - on sooo many levels.

This article portrayed Charlotte very well and the slide show was phenomenal. I can't wait to check this place out.

Yea, it's kind of like retro Charlotte. Big corporations and grassroots movements coming together as one.

I've been to the Gannt Center as well, that Hewitt Collection is remarkable! The next time I'm in Charlotte, I will check out the Bechtler Museum!
