From my experience, cable is still way faster than DSL, even at cables loweer speeds and DSL's higher speeds.

It really depends on your area of town. Here in Portland I have friends on Cable that complain all the time about slow downs. My DSL is very consistant. I have 3.0 service which works really well. We will see how Charlotte is when I get there next week. I am getting 3.0 service from Bell South. I Like Direct TV so, I stuck with DSL for internet.

It likely had something to do for me with TW's corporate office being about 3 miles from my apartment at the time if that's where the feed was from.

I think it is a total crap shoot.

For some people in some areas DSL works betetr and for others cable works better.

My cable signal to the house was -11 so they had to put an amplifier on the house, I now get a +8 signal.

0 is the standard if it goes below -12 they cannot activate the cable etc.

I have DSL and have had cable, I had cable with 4 different companies in 2 different states and 3 cities...I don't notice any difference with DSL than I did with cable unless I up to 5 mbps and I don't need that with what I do..I did notice when I got a newer computer it moved faster but before that...nothing.
