If the man were trying to kill the teen he would have. He used bird shot, not shotgun shells. If the boy had been hit seven times with wounds to the face, arm and side with real ammunition he would not be listed in fair condition; he would be dead. The boy's probably better off than if the old guy had just kicked his butt.

The kid took his chance and did something WRONG...consequences are a real B$%^H But that is life...maybe he won't do it again, I bet if criminals all knew there was a REAL consequence, not just a slap on the wrist..it would really cut down crime. He was not being a "kid" he was BREAKING into someone's property!!! That is the problem with society today..ppl are WAY TOO Lenient on children when they are younger and want to be friends with them or not hurt their tender feelings and then they grow up to be criminals, gangs, thieves etc. They need structure, and to learn right from wrong at a young age, as they get older they have already have those values ingrained in them. Part of loving your child is disciplining them.

So this is what its come to? AHHHH you liberals.... The criminal is taking a chance WITH HIS LIFE when he decides to perpetrate a crime on another. The only way to stop these punks from committing crime is to let them know they have no rights at all. I am against guns period, so I am not going to condone shooting anyone. However, we have GOT to stop protecting the criminal all the time. In this case both need to be punished, but the law HAS to have leniency when one is rightfully protecting ones property or loved ones.

By the way , easy to say when its not YOUR STUFF getting stolen isnt it.....I can assure you, if I ever come home and find some punk in my house, well................

Heh, I just brought a newborn home and got no sleep...I am in one foul mood

He attempted burgrarly. Robbery is taking something from another by force or the threat or implied threat of force.

No, it doesn't make it ok. I was just explaining the difference. But it also doesn't make it ok for the victim to shoot him. One bb can kill somebody if it lands in the wrong place. We have all done stupid things at younger ages, especially in our teens. Being shot is not the correct punishment for this crime. It reminds me of the movie American History X. If you haven't seen it, watch it. It is graphic in some parts.
