It depends
Depends on where in the caribbean she's from and where's she lives (if at all) in the US. I'd say that the Caribbean hut is your best bet. Also Austin's on Kings drive is great but doesn't have a place to sit down (may require a pic nic). I just cook at home for my husband since most other places have been disappointing.....but like everything in Charlotte it's getting better.

Here are some others in Charlotte. My favorite sit down place is Mama’s in the Plaza-Midwood area, but my favorite of all is Austin's.

FYI, there’s the Caribean Festival coming up in July. To me, this event has kind of gone down in recent years, but hey, it’s something to do for that day…

Good list...Addies in NoDa closed a number of months ago, as did JAIMAMA RESTAURANT...Mamma's on Central is as good as you are going to get (Jamaican). There is also Sweet Spice on Plaza (south of 36th), and Island Grocery on Abelmarle (not sure the spelling), while it is primarily a jamaican grocery store, they do have carry out food that is pretty good.
