Hi,
Just wondering if anyone has children at Troutman Elementary School? We are trying to decide between living in an area zoned for Troutman vs. trying to find something zoned for Lakeshore Elementary. We would like to be further out of the hustle and bustle, but I worry about the scores at Troutman. I know there is more to a school than scores, so that's why I'd like some feedback. I know the Trouman area is really growing--does anyone know if the influx is predicted to help those more rural schools? Thanks! ![]() |

I'm developing some homes in the area and can tell you that Troutman Elem has been adding a signifcant building to expand the school, it is almost complete, as I drive by daily...also, there is legislation aimed at combining the Mooresville School District and Iredell-Statesville schools, so clearly the educational needs are being addressed...I would advise actually contacting the school directly...personally I believe there are no bad teachers, just bad students...with that said, Troutman has resources comparable to any good school in the area, and it is located dead in the downtown of Troutman, which is growing considerably...I would not call it rural at all...I think it's bldg addition and growing population will drive the education to even higher standards as schools with newer populations attract new teachers, etc, etc. Best of luck

Thanks gatorbuilt. I believe I read in some of your posts that you were developing on East Monbo. We own a lot in The Highlands at Lake Norman--is that the neighborhood you are working in? We are pretty familiar with the area and love it. We will have to rent or buy while we build in The Highlands. I would prefer to start the kids at the same school they will be in when we move to The Highlands (which is Troutman Elementary) but just felt I needed some insights. I appreciate your comments. Thanks!

No, I am not in The Highlands....I am the two houses just past Hicks Creek when you come around the bend...I am on the left...I am familiar with the Highlands, very nice subdivision...but we do full scale development, both land and building...I do know most of the builders who build there, we all know each otherLOL...if I can assist you in any way, please feel free to drop a line....best of luck.

I'm the technology teacher at Troutman, and just started the job back in March. I can tell you that Troutman Elementary is full of extremely dedicated teachers and great administrators! I feel extremely blessed to be involved in the school. It is a safe, nurturing, and positive place to learn. The children over all are respectful and diligent workers. I was impressed that the students take their learning so seriously and take responsibility for completing homework and class work. I love it here! I think you will too!
