Just so you know Cinco de Mayo celebrates the time the Mexicans successfully thwarted an invasion by the French. The French invaded Mexico to collect on foreign debt the Mexicans owed them. So, yeah, although we are protected by the 1st Amendment to freely express ourselves, I also don't understand why anyone would celebrate that in this country.

Not at all! Just saying the day has no real meaning in America.

Being from Mexico I wonder that all the time. Especially considering that no one in Mexico celebrates it.

Cinco de Mayo is my favorite of the holidays. It's not as commercialized and material driven as say Christmas! Noone expects a gift. You're not chastised for NOT having a big pine tree in your home. you just have a good time w/ friends and family eating my favorite foods. i love it!

I know its late but Montford(sp?) drive off park road in between dilworth and southpark area had hundreds if not thousands of people at a few different establishments like angry ales and Brazwells. Parking lots were roped off and it was tons of fun.
