I personally believe this is the result of lack of sex education and the increased emphasis on abstinence only. It just simply doesn't work and this needs to be revised, starting at a VERY young age.

Wow now that is something I did not know. I always thought Aids was transmitted through sexual contact.

Please tell me you're kidding. You've never heard the "don't share needles" stuff surrounding AIDS awareness campaigns?

Do they teach any sex education in NC schools?
I agree that telling kids not to have sex isn't enough.

I wonder how many healthcare workers are HIV positive.
Not sure what the policies for testing staff are.

I do know that all Green card (permanent residency status) applicants are tested, but don't know what the consequesnces are if someone is positive ie if you would be denied a Green card automatically or if it depends on circumstances.

Unfortunately, like any other test, it will only tell you your status at that point in time.
If you are at high risk you could contract HIV the next week/month/year.
So are people advocating getting tested every year along with the colonoscopy/PAP smear etc?
