This thread was started about one month before we started looking for a house in the metro Charlotte area, probably at the peak of the housing runup. We closed the 3rd week in Aug 07. The stock I sold was half of the 25% down payment, if I had held on to that stock, it now would be worth about $550. My home here has not declined nearly as much as the stock.
Maybe we are romanticists but we have not found anything that we dislike about this area. We try to get to our home in Huntersville about every 6 weeks for a several day stay. Our dispositions and outlook greatly improve as we start down that long hill on I77 in Va and then see the sign that says WELCOME TO NORTH CAROLINA.
Coming from Miami and Chicago, I love this city. It has a nice mix of shopping, parks, greenways, uptown city life and location in terms of FL or NY or other places is great.
I also like the people here. No traffic. (at least where I go) Mild weather to grow almost anything.
People come here for info. There is good and bad in anything. Why wouldn't you want to provide both? If only providing the positives, you wouldn't be giving a proper representation right?
Is this a positive or a negative for the greater Charlotte area?
