Wink New here, want to relocate from Miami..

Hi, everyone! WE NEED TO MEET SOME PEOPLE FROM CHARLOTTE!!!!

My husband and I are considering relocating to Charlotte from Miami. I'm 29, he's 35, and we have 3 kids (11, 5, and 7 months). I'm American, he is too, but of Bolivian descent.

We've been in Miami 2 years now, and I HATE it! We lived in Jersey for 4 years before that. I'm originally from E. Tennessee.

Our trouble will be with Step 1 -- selling our home here in Miami. As I'm sure you know, the market here in Miami is far from ideal. So, we're planning on spending this w/e fixing / de-cluttering and listing it next week. Cross your fingers it goes fast. Then, on to step 2 -- finding jobs and meeting new people.

My family's in TN and his is in Jersey, so we know NO ONE there! But, after looking at some homes for sale, and finding out our salaries will be similar to what we're earning now I FELL IN LOVE!!!!!

PLEASE, introduce yourselves!!! I look forward to meeting you....

Thanks!
Amy

Amy,

My wife and I will be in the same boat when we get there. We will not know anyone and will want to meet people. Good luck with selling your home in FL, my friend is a realtor down there and she told me it is horrible right now. Here in NJ, where we are, it is just as tough.

Thanks for your reply....

In a way, I'd like to go back to Jersey. I love (most..lol) of his family, and like the lifestyle. But housing is WAY to expensive, and defeats the purpose of getting out of FL.

How do you like it? What do you think of the schools? Do you have a long commute to work?? (Sorry to bombard you with questions...)

tia.

So you will be known as a halfback.

You will love it here (moved up from Miami last year), did not have a house to sell, so we rented here first.

If you can I would take a good look at matthews & ballantyne, once you get into union county commute can start taking to long.

Huntersville to the north. Fort Mill or SW charlotte other options reasonable commute time.

Just to ease your fears, I was also from New Jersey and have now been living in Southern Charlotte (Union County) for some time now. Moved into the area not knowing a soul, no family ,nothing. Our Young children adapted very fast and we've met a bunch of nice people. Don't worry, most people here have relocated so you won't feel like an outsider. It is very nice here, you'll love it. Good Luck

Yeah, that's what I've heard..."Halfback"...lol. I just can't stand how expensive Miami is! My mortgageS (that's right, we have two, and both are INTEREST ONLY) total over $3,300 / month!!! It's too much w/ 3 kids and HO ins. on the rise, and an unsure situation w/Property taxes. I can't wait to sell and move to Charlotte....we're planning on renting first too.

I forgot to add, thanks for the tips about the areas that are ideal. my husband will most likely be working for one of the banks, downtown (or is it uptown??) lol. He's a financial advisor / stock broker.
